Classes in many different art media are offered. The VAC has a staff of highly accomplished, award-winning instructors. [see Instructors]

Portrait, life drawing, and plein aire sessions are weekly mainstay activities. Fine crafts classes in pottery, stained glass and jewelry-making are popular classes in the curriculum. Occasionally, specialty classes are offered in diverse media like silk-painting and multimedia technology. We offer art appreciation and history classes, too. [see Classes]

Visual Arts Center frequently hosts workshops with well-known artists, offering a wide variety of subjects designed for various skill and age levels. Workshops are offered for members-only and to the public.

Coming Workshops:

3-Day Portrait Workshop October 4-6, 9am-3pm

This workshop will cover the creation of a pastel portrait from a live model. Learn to use accurate measurements to achieve a likeness, mapping & gradating planes of the face, light/shadow relationships, proper use of highlights, modeling hair, backgrounds, completing eyes, just to name a few. Taught by Suzanne Bowles. Discover Watercolor Pencils October 25 & 26, 9am-3pm

Enjoy this 2-day workshop with Melissa Miller Nece, CPSA, filled with fun exercies, two guided painting projects, and plenty of time to work on your own subject – with five types of water-soluble colored pencils provided by Derwent. (click here for prospectus)
