Bill Gimbel, Drawing

Bill attended the Studio School of Art and Design and Fleisher Memorial in his hometown of Philadelphia. A full-time resident of Punta Gorda since 1997, he enjoys working with oils, pencil, pen and ink, pastels and sculpture in addition to his acrylic paintings. His works can be found in many private collections, corporations and public areas.

Ann McCarty Sickels, Drawing

Ann was born in Sandusky, Ohio and moved to Florida when she was 5. She won her first award in art at that age an Easter coloring contest at Eckerd Drugs. Her name in lights on the sign in front of the store was the beginning of a career in art. During childhood, Ann enjoyed many hours of drawing and painting her favorite subjects of cats and horses. She obtained an AA Degree in Art from Edison College in Ft. Myers and studied under Nina Conner for 5 years, learning portrait, advanced drawing and painting. Since 1998, Ann has been teaching both children and adults in oil, acrylic, watercolor, creativity and drawing. She teaches at the Cape Coral Art Studio, Pine Island art Association and the Alliance for the Arts in Ft. Myers. Ann has shown and won numerous awards in local, state and national shows, including Charlotte County Art Guild Biennale Show, 2D3D at the Alliance in Ft. Myers, and the state shows at the Art League of Bonita Springs and the Von Liebig in Naples.


Ron Sanders, Fundamentals, Colored Pencil

Ron began pursuing art as a small child, working in oils by the age of nine, studying anatomy soon after, and selling his first commissioned work by the age of eleven. He received his BFA in illustration at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Ohio, where he graduated with honors. Embracing his commercial training, he began working as a freelance illustrator while still in college. Ron has produced illustrations for advertising and promotional material, books, calendars and newspapers. His clients include Spike TV, Doubleday Bookclub, Harcourt and its subsidiaries, McGraw Hill, Chase Financial, The Boy Scouts, BF Goodrich Tire Co., The Detroit Free Press, and Minneapolis Star Tribune. Ron has also experimented with the imited edition print market, but his focus remains on original oil paintings. This has led to the exhibition of his work in prestigious national juried shows and more than a dozen art galleries throughout the United States and its territories since 1993.

Gwen Slimp, Colored Pencil

Gwen began studying art using colored pencils and pastels after retirement from the medical profession and moving to Florida. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Judson College. She has studied art at the Red Hat Studio for 7 years, studied in France with ArtStudy Giverny, and with the artists of the Ringling School of Art Design in Sarasota and Wildacres, North Carolina. She has studied with several art instructors at the Visual Arts Center intensively for 8 years. Her work has received several awards for colored pencil and pastels in juried shows. She illustrated and co-published the children's book, "The Winter Sleep." Gwen has served on the board of directors at the Visual Arts Center, is currently studying oils and will be teaching colored pencil workshops and classes at the VAC.
