Drawing and Sketching

Come and learn to draw and sketch basics. Whether you are a complete beginner or you wish to brush up on your skills, you will enjoy this class. In a fun and relaxed environment, we will study the basic skills of contour, negative space, gesture, perspective, proportion, values and more. With these skills, you will be able to draw anything you want.

Life Drawing Studio

X-ercise your artistic muscle on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 ~ 9:30! Join your fellow artists for Open Studio Life Drawing. Bring your pads, pencils, pastels or paints. Members only; $10 per class for model fee.

Colored Pencil

So much to learn about using colored pencil: paper and surfaces, application techniques, basic skills with other wet & dry mediums both wet & dry, how to start, and finishing touches.

Drawing Into Color
Instructor:  Ann McCarty Sickels

Looking to begin a color medium but want more basic knowledge? This class will study intermediate drawing and beginning color by taking your beginning knowledge of drawing and expanding it into gesture, portrait, figure and more. Then we go into the infinite study of color: opposites, dulling, plastic quality, triads, etc. … as useful tools in any color composition.

Beginning Drawing
Instructor:  Bill Gimbel

This class is designed for the beginner who has a thirst to learn the fundamentals of drawing, which will include how to easily draw an object in proper perspective so that the object appears to be 3 dimensional and realistic. Besides learning perspective we will also explore plotting light sources and shadows, shading techniques, drawing structures and freehand drawing.

Fundamentals of Drawing

All art seems to start with drawing. It's what we all know we need to study more to improve our art but often don't put the time into mastering. Understanding the fundamentals of properly seeing, judging relationships, and building from simplified basic shapes can help us to accurately draw and render any subject as a 3-dimensional object. Great practice for beginners and seasoned artists alike.

Introduction to Colored Pencil
Instructor:  Ron Sanders

Lightweight, compact, and clean, colored pencil offers unique benefits to the artist. Learn how to build your drawings with vibrant layers of color to bring life, drama and form to your image. We will study paper texture and tooth and how the surface you choose affects your drawing as well as some basic advice on draftsmanship and rendering techniques. Bring your own photo reference or still life setup - all subjects are welcome.

 

Art Camp for Kids ages 6-12
Instructor: Multiple Instructors

PAINT - DRAW - POTTERY - MIXED MEDIA
Explore different projects and techniques through instruction by teachers experienced with elementary age children. Cost is $50 per student and includes all supplies.
Four 2-week sessions throughout the summer.

Pottery Camp for Teens ages 13-16

Learn how to throw, finish and glaze your own unique pottery pieces from the pottery "master" ... Jack Vartanian! Cost is $60 per student and includes all supplies.

Video-Making Camp for 7th & 8th Graders
Instructor: Tom Hamilton

Learn to produce movie shorts using video camcorders to shoot material and PC based computers to assemble clips, edit the movie and produce DVDs or YouTube productions.
