Creativity meets community at Canvas for a Cause, a fundraising event for the AMIKids Crossroads residential program for boys and Visual Arts Center youth programs such as Cooper Street School art camp. Join us at this year's event, April 23 at 6pm. Create your very own "Earth Day" themed painting with the help of talented instructors. When the paint-off is finished, the instructors original paintings, along with valuable prizes from local businesses will be auctioned off. Also enjoy live music, catering by Event Elements and silent auction. Painting tickets are $75 ($85 at the door), spectator tickets are $25 ($35 at the door). Tickets are on sale at www.acanvasforacause.com.

Crossroads is a non-profit organization that offers residential program services to teens who struggle fitting into the foster care system and society in general. Crossroads is home to 24 boys ranging in age from 14-18.  These youth are provided an opportunity to transform their lives through positive and motivating programming that inspires learning, leadership and personal growth. New Operation Cooper Street assists in the development of our youth by providing valuable and lasting tools to encourage motivation, pride and the desire to succeed. The Visual Arts Center and Cooper Street have partnered to provide summer art camp for New Operation Cooper Street students. The Visual Arts Center provides a variety of programs to youth including summer art camp and art classes for Charlotte Academy in an effort to enrich children’s learning and expose them to the arts, especially in light of decreased funding given to the art programs in schools. Visit their websites at www.amikidscrossroads.org and www.cooperstreetcenter.org to learn more about these organizations.
