Affiliate Groups

Art Council of Southwest Florida

The Art Council of SWFL is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization formed in 1963 and now consists of 19 aaffiliated art organizations throughtout the Southwest Florida area, including the Visual Arts Center. the Art Council serves as the voice for the local visual arts community, provifing opportunities for learning, exhibitions, demonstrations and more. The ACSWFL show, Winner's Circle will be hosted by the Visual Arts Center March 14 - 28. Visit their website, www.artcouncilofswfl.org to learn more. 


The Visual Arts Center members have formed several Affiliate Groups who get together with artists of like mediums.  Contact the Visual Arts Center if you would like to start an Affiliate Group.

Artists in Action
Members get together to paint/draw. This meeting is non-instructional, but artists assist and critique each other in a positive learning environment.

Common Threads (Fiber Arts Group) www.commonthreads11.blogspot.comMembers share a common passion creating art with fiber! They knit, weave, spin, sew and felt. Goal is to share and inspire each other. Common Threads meetings are finished for the summer and will most likely resume in October.

Jewelry Arts Group (JAG)
A group of jewelry enthusiasts learning new and exciting ways to create fantastic works of wearable art. Jag meetings are closed for the summer, and usually resume in September.

    When: 2nd and 4th Fridays each month 1pm-3pm (Group is closed during summer, will resume meetings in Spetember.)

Life Drawing Studio
Weekly sessions for figure work with live models. You must be 18 or older to participate (figure drawing involves a variety of nude poses). The Life Drawing Studio will not be meeting over the summer (May - October). The Studio will reopen in the fall, most likely the first week of November.

Members Book Club
Members get together the 4th Wednesday of every month to discuss a new art- related novel or biography. All members are welcome; contact the library for details.

Peace River Painters
Meet Monday mornings at various locations in and around Charlotte County. The Peace River Painters have an annual exhibit in the Goff Gallery to display and sell their artwork. Porcelain Artists
Monthly Paint-A-Longs supplemented with guest instructors teaching techniques in porcelain painting. Porcelain Artist meetings are finished for the summer and will most likely resume in October.
